Drunk caller sees imaginary guns, machinery

A man known by dispatch to be “chronically intoxicated,” called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report around 20 people on Managhan Lane with machinery and guns. The man reportedly was slurring his words and demanding to know what was going on. Deputies responded, checked the area and informed the reporting party that they found nothing of concern.

Someone reported a small black bear lying in the road surrounded by trucks on U.S. 93 in Lakeside. The reporting party said the bear hadn’t moved when they drove by and that the situation seemed strange.

A lost male German shepherd mix reportedly followed a child to school. The child’s mother contained the dog in her car and called for him to be picked up and taken to the county shelter.

Someone reported seeing an unmanned bright blue canoe with a motor floating down a river and go over a waterfall. The canoe was recovered and the owner counseled on his “boating actions.”

A man reportedly approached a woman about repaving her driveway. The woman said the man was flagged in four states as a scammer. She informed law enforcement of when the man was to return if they wanted to pick him up.

A man called to report the tires from his grain truck were stolen.

A man reported suspected drug activity on Timberlake Drive in Lakeside. He said he’d seen a small blue car full of people who did not live nearby parked at a school bus stop multiple times within the last month and had found a syringe the last time they were there. Deputies offered to do extra patrols in the area.

Someone reported seeing four dogs fighting in a pen on Braig Road. The caller suspected one might be dead and the others were reportedly covered in blood.

A woman called Columbia Falls Police to report that someone stole her wallet out of her unlocked car while she was at church. When asked to fill out a statement, she said she was going camping and would fill one out when she got back.
