Wolfpack Theatre Co. presents play festival

| September 6, 2018 2:00 AM

Wolfpack Theatre Co. at Glacier High School will open the 2018-2019 season with “On the Edge” a one-act play festival, Sept. 10, 11 and 12 at 6:33 pm in the Wolfpack Theatre at GHS.

Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens. Tickets are available at the GHS Main Office, Photo Video Plus and, if still available, at the door.

The festival showcases four unique and powerful one-act plays that will lead the audience to the edge of life itself.

“This Property is Condemned,” by Tennessee Williams, is one of the playwright’s most acclaimed one-act dramas. Set along the railroad tracks in a small southern town in Mississippi during the depression, the story revolves around a conversation between Willie, a 13 year old girl who is world-weary before her time and a 16-year-old boy named Tom.

“Stark Drama,” by Michael V. McGee, follows the story of Gilbert Stark, a prisoner on death row in a state penitentiary awaiting execution and takes an honest, but humorous, look at the shortcomings of our judicial system.

“The Man Who Turned into a Stick,” by Kobo Abe, is a metaphorical work showing that the rigidity of staunchly held beliefs that contradict one’s existence causes people to turn into dead and inflexible sticks.

“Variations on the Death of Trotsky” is a dark comedy written by David Ives. Leon Trotsky, Russian Revolutionary and political exile, is writing his latest manifesto when his wife enters the study to inform him that he has a mountain-climber’s axe buried in the back of his skull. So begins eight increasingly absurd scenes of Trotsky’s death culminating in a reflection on death, time, and one’s place in history.

To celebrate Glacier High School’s Homecoming Week, the Wolfpack Theatre Co. will offer free admission to the first 150 GHS students with current student ID at the door on closing night, Sept. 12.

The acting company of “On the Edge” includes: Galvin Ness, Jez Schussler, Asher Robinson, Alexa Wilton, Ty Espeseth, Sydney Fletcher, Opal Besaw, Drew Bouda, Suzanne Loviska, Landon Mumm, Natalie Knuffke, Sierra Riley, Dresden Allred, Koysta Hoffman, Austin Firestone, Tylin Hartman, Ellie Haag, Derek Smith, Conner Byle, Teslyn Hartman, Lauren Kohler, Ammon Hill, Brooklyn Lamers and Isaac Schroeder.

Behind the scenes Addie Labrum, Christopher Breese, Brooklynn Pitts, Kimberly Liles, Drew Fitzgerald, Jaclyn Green, Lacey Carmichael, Cassidy Johnson, David Tanner, Gage Malave, Trevin Malave and Aysha McCubbins make up the stage, lighting, music and sound crew.
