The Kalispell Police Department is investigating a break-in that occurred earlier this week at the Flathead County Fairgrounds.

According to Investigations Captain Doug Overman, the break-in was discovered Tuesday morning.

“Several small buildings were broken into and some of the stolen items included law enforcement items, including body armor and radios that belonged to the Sheriff’s Posse,” Overman said.

The Posse is part of the Sheriff’s Office and provided security at the Northwest Montana Fair, which ended Aug. 19.

Overman said the division was working to develop leads and that they’d be looking for surveillance footage from the area near the fairgrounds.

“This seems typical of the type of crimes we’ve seen associated with the drug trade,” Overman said. “They will take whatever they can get to turn it into money so they can buy more.”

The department is asking people who may have any information related to the incident to cal Capt. Doug Overman at 758-7793 or Det. David Massie at 758-7795.
