About 30 volunteer judges are still needed for the Flathead County Science Fair scheduled Thursday.

The science fair will be held in the Flathead County Fairgrounds Expo Building. Approximately 190 projects by students in grades third through 12th are entered. Science projects include experiments, collections, models and demonstrations in biological, physical and engineering categories.

Volunteers may register online at https://www.flatheadcountysciencefair.org. Judges may provide category and grade-level preferences. They will be assigned to evaluate projects in one category and grade level.

Judges are asked to arrive at 8:30 a.m. and will be done by 1 p.m. A free continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The science fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to view projects between 10 a.m. to noon. An awards ceremony is expected to begin around 1 p.m.

Often, top projects from the county science fair in grades sixth through 12th go on to present at the state science fair, which will be held at the University of Montana on March 19 with an awards ceremony on March 20. An estimated $15,000 in prizes will be awarded.
