Flathead boys wins Swede Dahlberg

BUTTE — A solid all-around effort yielded the Flathead boys track and field team the narrowest of victories on Friday at the Swede Dahlberg Invitational despite capturing just one individual championship.

The Braves finished with 82 points, and Bozeman checked in just a hair off with 81.

Chad Hemsley claimed the only individual title for Flathead, winning the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.34. He edged teammates Dawson Rinehart and Camas Rinehart, who finished third and fifth in the event, respectively.

Dawson Rinehart also finished second in the 110 high hurdles.

Ben Perrin placed second in the 1,600 and third in the 800.

Flathead logged second-place finishes in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Michael Lee was second in the shot put, and Seth Moon took runner-up honors in the triple jump.

Glacier finished seventh as a team with 36 points.

Bennett McChesney (javelin) and Elijah Boyd (800) finished second in their respective events to lead the Wolfpack.

C-Falls boys, Whitefish girls second at Iceberg Invite

COLUMBIA FALLS — Frenchtown ran away with the boys team title and edged Whitefish to win the girls championship on Saturday at the Iceberg Invitational at the Mike Nicosia Track and Field Complex.

The Whitefish girls finished with 89.5 points, just 12 off the pace set by Frenchtown.

Columbia Falls finished a distant second in the boys competition with 102 points.

Frenchtown recorded 183.75.

Emily Mossburg won the 200-meter dash and was a member of the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams for Libby, which finished third in the girls team standings with 88 points.

Eureka’s Elizabeth Pacella won the 100 and triple jump.

Angellica Street topped the field in the javelin for host Columbia Falls, which finished fourth.

Whitefish’s Lee Walburn was the only area boy to capture multiple individual titles, winning the 110 high hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Other local boys to win individual events were Eureka’s Garrett Graves (high jump), Libby’s Gavin Strom (long jump), Whitefish’s Sam Menicke (triple jump) and Columbia Falls’ Tanner Gove (javelin).

The Columbia Falls boys won the (4x100) relay.

Bigfork girls take

Seeley-Swan Invitational

SEELEY LAKE — The Bigfork girls pulled away from the competition to win the Seeley-Swan Invitational on Saturday behind individual titles in the 400-, 800- and 1,600-meter runs and a win in the 4x400 relay.

Haile Norred (400), Anya Young (800) and Bryn Morley (1,600) were the individual winners for the Valkyries, who scored 88 points. Charlo was second with 70 points.

Norred and Morley also competed on Bigfork’s winning 4x400 team.

Young finished second in the 1,600, and Morley was third in the 400. Jordan Nelson clocked a 13.32 time in the 100 to place second.

The Bigfork boys finished fifth with 42 points, 38 behind winner Missoula Loyola.

Wyatt Duke was the top individual performer for the Vikings, wining the high jump. Logan Taylor was second in the event.

Bigfork placed second in the 4x400.
