Glacier's Hill shines at Optimist Invitational track
BUTTE — Glacier’s Annie Hill was the bright spot on an otherwise middling day for both Kalispell girls track and field teams at the Optimist Invitational, moved to Butte from its normal home in Great Falls due to track conditions.
Hill edged Missoula Big Sky’s Whitney Morrison by just more than half a second to win the 400-meter dash and ran away from the field for a comfortable victory in the 800-meter run.
Glacier finished seventh as a team with 37 points, and Flathead tied for eighth with 17.
Missoula Sentinel won the event with 110.25 points.
Adrian Schnee finished second in the high jump and third in the 300-meter hurdles for the Wolfpack.
Madison Boles made the podium for Flathead with a third-place finish in the high jump.

C-Falls boys, girls second
at Sapphire Twilight Meet
CORVALLIS — The Columbia Falls boys and girls track and field teams each took second place at the Sapphire Twilight Meet on Thursday.
Corvallis, the meet’s host, won both team titles by wide margins.
Polson, the only other area team competing, finished third in the girls competition and fourth on the boys side.
The Polson girls won three individual championships, and Columbia Falls captured two.
Bea Frissell won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs, and Mikaela Ducharme captured the triple jump title for the Pirates. Tallia Sova took top honors in shot put, and Angellica Street was victorious in the javelin for Columbia Falls.
The Wildcats captured three boys individual championships, as Kaedan Clewien (100), Drew Morgan (400) and Ben Windauer (pole vault) won their respective events.
Polson’s Colton Cote bested the field in the 110 hurdles.
Both Columbia Falls and Polson return to action today at the Iceberg Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m. in Columbia Falls.
