The Hockaday Museum of Art will hold its eighth annual Plein Air Paint Out event in Glacier National Park this year on June 17-19.

The “Plein Air Glacier: Exploring Glacier’s Timeless Legacy” event will take place over three days, with 30 artists creating as many paintings as they can — rain, shine or snow. Completed works later will be sold to benefit the museum.

Plein air is French for “in the open air.” Participating artists this year include Rob Akey, Vernon Anderson, Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey, Marsha Davis, Claudia Davis, George Garrity, Margaret Graziano, Tabby Ivy, Allen Jimmerson, Mary Kelley, Thomas G. Lewis, Jeff Manion, Rob Marceau, Alan McNiel, Raette Meredith, Dave Mihalic, Wanda Mumm, Niles Nordquist, Nicholas Oberling, Mark Ogle, Tim Peterson, Rex Stewart, Janet Sullivan, Linda Tippetts, Jeff Troupe, Ron Ukrainetz, Jim Ulrich, Sally Vannoy, Rachel Warner and Kenneth Yarus.

This year, the public is invited to watch as the plein air paintings are created during an exclusive Red Bus tour in Glacier Park. Call 755-5268 to make reservations.

The plein art party and sale will be held outside the museum, at 302 Second Avenue East in Kalispell, on Saturday, June 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission is free, and guests may purchase art at fixed prices. Works from the event also will be placed on exhibit and remain for sale through July 25.
