Kats keep rolling, drop Wolfpack, Broncs

The Columbia Falls girls basketball team extended its unbeaten streak to six  as they downed Glacier on the road 56-47 and dispatched conference rival Frenchtown, 43-31, the next night at home. The girls then hammered Bigfork Tuesday at home, 69-39.

The Glacier win was the first time the Wildkats had beaten the Class AA Lady Wolfpack in a few years. The Kats had three girls in double figures as Kiara Burlage had 20, Peyton Kehr had 13 and Cydney Finberg had 12. Burlage also had 13 rebounds and Kehr had 11. Finberg had five assists in the win.

“The girls competed hard. It took some time to adjust, but they responded and played well for 3 1/2 quarters,” Finberg said. Against the Lady Broncs, the Kats picked up their first conference win. The Kats shot out to a 28-13 lead at the half, but Frenchtown nibbled the lead down to seven in the third, but the Kats still held them off for the 12-point victory.

Sydney Hovde came off the bench and scored nine points, had three boards and two steals in the second quarter alone. After the break the Kats play Eureka at home Jan. 2. Game time is 4 p.m.
