Rotary Club thanks

| December 30, 2014 8:27 AM

The Columbia Falls Rotary Club has taken over coordination of the Night of Lights Parade. However, last year due to brutal weather, the parade was canceled. What a difference a year makes.

The weather for this year’s parade was perfect. There was a light snow falling, and the temperature was pleasant for this time of year. The 35 individuals, businesses and service organizations did a great job with their floats, and we had great turnout by the community to start the Christmas season.

The Rotary Club would like to thank former parade coordinator Peggy Newman for all of her help in making sure we hadn’t forgotten anything. Thanks to the Columbia Falls Police Department for a great job of traffic control and the Columbia Falls Volunteer Fire Department for giving Santa a ride.

We would especially like to thank the City of Columbia Falls and the private snow removal businesses they contacted for making sure that Nucleus Avenue was plowed. Next year will mark 30 years of the Night of Lights Parade, and the Rotary Club will be looking forward to another great evening for our community. Happy New Year.
