Edna Tietz

| October 25, 2006 11:00 PM

Edna Pauline Tietz, 91, "claimed the victory with the Lord" on Oct. 15, 2006.

She was born May 10, 1915, in Bentley, N.D., to Samuel and Charlotta Baler, in a family of nine children.

She married Herbert Tietz on May 29, 1938, at the First English Lutheran Church in Missoula. They were married for 58 years.

A well known baker, Edna was known for her blachinda, kuchen and cinnamon twists. They were always a special treat. Family, friends and the church were always important to her. She was a member of LWML at First Lutheran for many years and always kept in contact by letters. You could always count on getting a letter from Edna … those letters will be missed greatly.

Both Herb and Edna were avid fisherman and for many years fished the nearby lakes. They both also enjoyed dancing the old-time dances. It was pure joy to watch them polka or do the schottische.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband Herbert in 1996.

Edna is survived by her brother Edwin Baier, of Lynnwood, Wash.; sister Helen Rudy, of Ferndale, Wash.; her children Norman and Norma Tietz, of Whitehall, Judith and Roy Kidder, of Whitefish, Dorothy and Jerry Weaver, of Federal Way, Wash., and Joyce Harvey, of Tacoma, Wash.; grandchildren Carie Dodson, of Missoula, Wanda Benson, of Post Falls, Idaho, Kirk and Sarah Tietz, of East Gull Lake, Minn., Nancy Dowell, of Federal Way, Gary and Susan Dowell, of Kent, Wash., Scott and Terry Kidder, of Milton, Wash., Lynndel Cox, of Washington, Jennifer and Brian Schwer, of Tacoma, Michael Weaver, of Seattle, Janell and Terry Grey, of Puyallup, Wash., and Susan and Paul Wigle, of Kalispell; 28 great grandchildren; and numerous other family members.

Funeral services took place Oct. 23, 2006, at the First Lutheran Church, in Missoula. Burial took place at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to go to The Lutheran Hour or First Lutheran Church.
