Margaret Berg

| October 18, 2006 11:00 PM

Margaret Catherine Berg, 60, died Oct. 11, 2006 at her home due to a heart condition.

Margaret was born July 22, 1946, in Havre to Edward and Agnes (Tow) Cook. She was raised and educated in Havre and graduated from Havre High School. She attended Northern Montana College and received her degree in cosmetology.

She married Dennis S. Berg on March 16, 1974, in Havre. They made their home in Great Falls, where Margaret worked for Malmstrom Air Force Base as a billeting clerk. The couple had two daughters. The family then moved to Whitefish, where she worked for the public school system. They moved to Havre in 1993, where Margaret worked as a para-professional.

Margaret enjoyed sewing, quilt making, reading, puzzle books, computer solitaire and family game nights. She was a gentle, caring, loving mother and friend to all who knew her.

She got great pleasure out of the simple things in life. Putting others before herself was one of her special qualities. She often wondered if she made a difference in this world, and as all her loving family and friends show, she certainly did make a difference. She will be sorely missed by everyone.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward J. Cook, and her mother and father-in-law, Rita Sigo and Lester Berg.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Dennis S. Berg, of Havre; daughters Angela Heffern and husband Jack, of Helena, and Rebecca Gregg and husband Jim, of Helena; sister Bonnie Parenteau and husband Joe, of Havre; brothers Bob Cook and wife Jeri, of Havre, Jim Cook and wife Darla, of Havre, and David Cook, of Havre; sisters-in-law Leslie Smith and husband John, of San Diego, Calif., Marsha Lowry and husband Jerry, of Pocatello, Idaho, and Sue Runyan and husband Ken, of Meridian, Idaho; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service took place Oct. 16, 2006, at the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church, in Havre, with Pastor Richard Rice officiating.

Memorial contributions in Margaret's honor may be made to the Havre Hill County Library.
