The Columbia Falls tennis teams wrapped up their regular season last week with losses to Hamilton and Whitefish. The girls beat Corvallis, 4-3, but the boys lost 6-1.

But even then, they had some nice individual performances.

The Cats were overpowered by Whitefish at home, 6-1, 6-1 Thursday.

Notching victories for the Cats were Grant Getts, who defeated Brenden Visconi, 3-6, 6-4 (10-6). Kate and Sarah Marcille continued their winning ways in doubles, downing Kate Whitaker and Taylor Beach, 6-0, 6-4.

The teams then lost to Hamilton 4-3, 4-3 on Saturday.

Frosh Getts continued in his winning ways, dropping Ryan Splatt, 6-3, 6-1.

The Marcille sisters, however, had a tough time against the Hamilton doubles squad of Jennifer Conwell and Lilly Sterling, losing 6-2, 6-4.

Against Corvallis, the boys had a tough time, losing 6-1. Jake Ronish and Scott Hopkins got a win against Delane Jessop and Tyler Roberts, 6-3, 6-2.

The girls did better, with four wins. Emily Emmert, Chelsea Smith, and Chelsea Wilson all notched wins as did the Marcille sisters in doubles.

Divisional players for the girls will be singles: Emmert, Smith, Wilson and Dana Gross. Doubles: The Marcille sisters, seeded No. 2, Danielle Fagre and Jessica Hopkins; Jessica Feretti and Carrie Hopkins.

Boys singles: Cody Maynard, Grant Getts, Wes Jackson, Josh Palumbo. Doubles: Josh Kaplan and Michael Karper; Jake Ronish and Scott Hopkins and Devin Iverson and Billy Garcia.

Divisional play starts today (Thursday), which will determine state tourney berths. Matches will be played at the Flathead Valley Community College Campus.
