A matter of choice

| July 26, 2006 11:00 PM

My name is Nikki Deneui and I am a college student living here in the valley. I am one of Bob's cycling fans and attended his 5:30 a.m. stationary bicycle class regularly for months.

I particularly enjoyed the choice of music. Sometimes it was praise and worship music, sometimes it was funny parodies, but it was always clean, positive and uplifting, unlike some other classes I have attended.

I was very surprised and confused when I first heard of the music regulations. I realize that Christian music may offend some people, solely due to its religious origin. However, there are other classes which play music that offends me, and I simply choose not to attend.

Music is often one of the biggest motivating factors in encouraging people to attend a class, and it was certainly one of the biggest factors for me. 5:30 a.m. isn't exactly my favorite hour of the morning, but waking up to Bob's class really made my day every Tuesday and Thursday.

I didn't boycott the class intentionally, but after the music was changed, I simply didn't feel like going anymore. I hope that this decision is reversed sometime before many of the classes start again next fall, because I'd like to get back into the habit of working out with friends again.
