The Columbia Falls girls tennis team shutout Libby on Saturday in the final match up before the Divisionals in Kalispell today.

The girls played strong tennis, losing only a handful of games without losing a set.

Tennis coach Jerry Smalley said that it was a "good tune-up before heading into Divisionals."

Junior Emily Emmert continued her good play, defeating Tiffany Casey 6-1, 6-4, and freshman Sarah Marcille rounded out the end of her first regular season by defeating Melissa Kehn 6-0, 6-0.

Senior Mayumi Too defeated Emily Kroll 6-4, 6-2 and junior Lisa Carter beat Riley Dinning 6-4, 6-4.

Seniors Nikki Freebury and Crystal Nieves defeated Jessica Doobek and Brittany Larson 6-1, 7-5 in doubles and juniors Donna Burns and Jessica Hopkins defeated Brenna Crucheck and Jourdan Wood 6-0, 6-1. Senior Rosemary Dalimata and junior Chelsea Smith won the other doubles match against Misty Little and Margeaux Zwang 6-2, 6-1.

The boys came close to winning, but ended up one match short, losing 4-3.

The Wildcats were missing five players, including their last doubles team, and that forfeit was the deciding match in the contest.

Senior Freidrich Von Schweinitz defeated Brian Kehn 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 and sophomore Jeremy Loween beat Justin Thortenson 6-3, 7-6(7-4). Freshman Cody Maynard played hard against Zack Ercanbach, but ended up losing 3-6, 5-7 and junior Josh Kaplan struggled against Mike Bardole, losing 0-6, 2-6.

In doubles, junior Chuck Sneddon and senior Kevin Kropp beat Gabe Sorenson and Milan House in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Juniors Shawn MacNorious and Nate Luke ended up losing to Wyatt Crismore and Steve Hauck 3-6, 0-6.

"It was a pretty good effort by the boys, who were missing five players today," Smalley said. "Great effort by freshman Cody Maynard."

These were the last matches for the teams before Divisionals, which will be held in Kalispell today.
