Bigfork High School Board to vote on the addition of baseball

| July 5, 2023 8:30 AM

Bigfork High School is on the verge of an exciting decision as the Board prepares to vote on the addition of baseball as a new high school sport for the upcoming 2023/2024 school year.

The outcome of this vote will determine whether baseball will join the roster of athletic offerings at Bigfork High School, providing students with a unique opportunity to participate in this beloved American pastime.

The proposal to introduce baseball as a high school sport stems from the growing interest and demand expressed by students and members of the Bigfork community.

Over the past several months, passionate supporters of the sport have rallied for the inclusion of baseball in the school’s sports program, highlighting its many benefits for student athletes. This comes on the back of a successful first season of High School baseball from other local High Schools in the Flathead Valley.

Baseball is not just a game; it instills values such as teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

By adding baseball to its list of sports, Bigfork High School would continue to be a leader in creating a well-rounded athletic program that caters to the diverse interests and talents of its student body.

The inclusion of baseball will further enhance the educational experience at Bigfork High School and provide students with opportunities for personal growth, physical fitness, and camaraderie.

We have a tremendous and enthusiastic community of youth baseball players, parents, and supporters in the Bigfork Community.

High School Baseball would provide a natural progression for the hundreds of players participating in our local youth baseball program. We believe it would be a wonderful addition to the athletic program at BHS and contribute positively to the overall High School experience of the student body there.

The upcoming vote by the Bigfork High School Board reflects the administration’s commitment to continuously evaluate a comprehensive range of extracurricular activities that meet the interests and needs of its students.

The decision-making process has involved careful evaluation of factors such as facility requirements, available resources, coaching staff, community support, and student interest.

The outcome of the vote will be eagerly anticipated by students, parents, and community members alike. The Bigfork High School Board is expected to vote on the initiative at the upcoming board meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, July 12th at 5:00 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the BHS Library. Community attendance is permitted.

We, on the Bigfork Youth Baseball Board, encourage everyone who is interested in seeing Bigfork High School join the growing list of schools providing baseball as an option for their students to attend this board meeting and support this cause.
