Libby hands Browning first league loss

LIBBY – Keith Johnson scored 25 points, seven in the pivotal third quarter, and Libby handed Browning its first conference loss in boys basketball Saturday, 60-49.

Johnson’s total included an 11-for-16 performance at the line – the Loggers (4-9, 2-4 in Northwestern A games) were 26-for-40 on free throws. Johnson hit five free throws as Libby broke away from a 32-32 halftime tie to lead 48-38 after three quarters.

Caden Williams and Chandler Bower added 10 points for Libby.

Riley Spoonhunter led Browning (10-3, 6-1) with 15 points, and Justin Byrd added 13. The Indians went 10 of 14 from the line.

HELENA – Three Capital players scored 11 points and the Bruins made a 28-17 halftime lead hold up against Glacier.

Weston Price’s 10 points led Glacier. The Wolfpack fell to 7-4, 4-3 in the Western AA.

Trevor Swanson, Malachi Syvrud and Parker Johnston all had 11 points for Capital (9-2, 6-1 in league).

HELENA – Kaden Huot scored 22 points – including five 3-pointers in a big third quarter – as Helena downed Flathead in a Western AA battle.

Huot’s 15 points keyed a 26-point outburst in the third for the Bengals, who trailed 22-20 at halftime. The Braves, getting 13 points from Joston Cripe and 11 from Gabe Adams, could not keep pace.
