Renegade motorcycle riders take to the shoreline

Friday, March 20

— A juvenile was reported missing. The boy later returned by the parent asked for a deputy to speak with him since he had reportedly run off previously.

— A caller on Beach Road reported they felt they were being followed. He asked if he could park in the sheriff’s office parking lot since that made him feel safe.

— An individual on Ranchetts Drive reported their daughter was supposed to be home but believed she was with her father in Libby. The caller was advised to contact law enforcement in Libby to conduct a welfare check since the daughter was in the care of her father and not missing.

Saturday, March 21

— An individual on Black Bear Lane reported someone had been going into his shed and taking his tools. The caller said the suspect may be someone he knows. He had a game camera setup, but couldn’t make out the suspect clearly.

— A large sign was reported stolen from a Montana 35 business.

— Graffiti of a naked woman was reported on River Street between two businesses. The caller said she would let one of the businesses know.

— Five or six individuals were spotted riding motorcycles back and forth on the lake shore.

Sunday, March 22

— An individual shot an injured deer on Montana 209 after possibly running it over but was not comfortable moving the animal. He said he didn’t want to get kicked in the face. A deputy removed the deer from the roadway.

— A deputy checked on an unoccupied vehicle on Swan River Road.

— An individual on Slow Down Lane was unable to get a hold of their daughter and requested law enforcement make contact with her. Deputies were able to make contact with the female in question and notified the reporting party.

— A caller found an axe, a bandanna and other miscellaneous items in his parking lot.

— An individual on Mill Camp Road had not heard from their parents since 7 p.m. the night before. The caller later called back to report they had made contact with their parents.

— A caller on Montana 209 requested an inspection for two trailers.

— An individual cut their leg with a chainsaw and had a tourniquet and towels on the wound. He was driving to the hospital and informed dispatch the emergency department was aware he was en route.

— A caller said their son’s mother would not return the boy to him and was claiming “emotional distress.” Both parties were counseled.

Monday, March 23

— A caller on Marken Lane reported his neighbor’s dog attacked his dog and that the damage was significant.

— A man pulled up behind another driver and started yelling and honking his horn and threatened to beat up the reporting party. A deputy contacted the caller.

— An individual reported their daughter was being cyberstalker by someone.

— Someone from California called because they were concerned about their friend who lived in Bigfork after seeing posts on social media. A deputy spoke with the individual in question who seemed to be in good spirits. They also spoke with a mental health professional.

Tuesday, March 24

— An individual in a golf cart shot a Canada goose on Bridger Drive which was later spotted deceased in the water. The reporting party was concerned about public safety given that the incident occurred in a residential area.

— A security alarm went off at a Logging Trail property and the owner said they were concerned since no one was supposed to be there. The alarm was later determined to be false and had been set off by dogs.

— A male was reportedly wandering around a local bank on Montana 35 for the past couple of days. The male was gone when deputies arrived.

— Deputies made contact with a female who had called earlier but gave limited information. She admitted to having a verbal disturbance with her boyfriend but stated she was OK and the incident was over.

— A caller said she suspected her grandson was exposed to the coronavirus and wanted a deputy to speak with him about getting tested since she believed he could also expose her to the disease. A deputy gave the caller the number for a coronavirus hotline.

Wednesday, March 25

— A caller on Beach Road stated a group of people had been following him earlier and wanted to speak with a deputy.

— An individual reported their vehicle was in another person’s possession for six months. The suspect was supposed to do work on the vehicle and the reporting party paid him, but the work was never completed.

Thursday, March 26

— A post office employee reported mail theft.

Friday, March 27

— An individual requested a welfare check for a Commerce Street residence. A door to the property had been left open for multiple days, according to the reporting party. No one was living at the location in question.

— A female victim was notified that a male was being released from jail.

— A caller on Electric Avenue reported their boyfriend’s truck had been stolen. The owner, who was in jail, was contacted and said that his keys were taken from him at gunpoint in Bigfork. Deputies were reportedly uncertain about the accuracy of information provided regarding the theft.

— An individual on Beach Road called to report people following him and stated these incidents were “as serious as a heart attack.”
