Clara Lee Wells Constantine, 76

| September 11, 2019 2:00 AM

Clara Lee Wells Constantine passed away peacefully Sept. 4, 2019, at The HealthCenter of a stroke. She was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer but was spared having to go through treatment.

Clara was born in Kalispell on July 6, 1943. She grew up in the Flathead and attended Belt High School and Missoula VoTech. Throughout her lifetime she worked as an apartment manager, office clerk and bookkeeper and loved her time at the Murphy Lake Ranger District in Eureka. Clara lived in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Reno and Winnemucca, Nevada, but always considered Kalispell home where she has spent her last 14 years.

Clara was preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Davis Wells, father Arthur Wells, son Roger D. Maynor, and brother Edward Wells.

She is survived by her daughter Teresa (Randy) Giffin of Winnemuch, son Lee Tatom (Lisa) of Kalispell, brothers Leroy Wells and Arlo Wells of Fairbanks, and Tom Wells of Missoula, grandchildren Kchena (Brandon) Gibson, TJ Mousel, Jasmine Mousel and Jesse (Becky) Mousel, and great-granddaughters Anastasia and Keanna Gibson, Mackenzie, Marleigh, Madeline and Maribelle Mousel. Clara was a proud grandma and aunt and loved her nieces and nephews.

Clara will be remembered for her entertaining stories, including using a cast iron frying pan on a husband who was misbehaving, her boisterous laugh, witty humor and generous heart. She was a spitfire that wouldn’t take grief off anyone, something she learned from her four older brothers! She couldn’t say no to a stray dog and always had a warm place in her heart for her family.

A graveside service will take place at 3 p.m. Sept. 21 at Lonepine Cemetery in Bigfork.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for Clara and her family.
