Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region 1 officials are investigating a deer poaching incident that occurred in the Flathead Valley.

According to authorities, on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 22, a Montana game warden began investigating two deer — a white-tailed fawn and a mule deer buck — that were left dead at the corner of Kuhns Road and Farm to Market Road between Whitefish and Kalispell.

Both animals were field dressed but no meat was taken. The antlers were removed from the mule deer buck.

Anyone with possible information about this crime is encouraged to contact the game warden at (406) 250-9498 or FWP’s toll-free hotline TIP-MONT: 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668).

Callers will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
