MISSOULA — Another day like Tuesday and the Bigfork girls might bring home a state trophy.

Led by the steady play of Isabella Santistevan and Carly Stodghill, Bigfork holds down third place after the first 18 holes of the Class B state tournament at Canyon River Golf Course.

Missoula Loyola, led by standout Katie Fagg, tops the standings with a 372 score. Shelby is one shot back and Bigfork is next at 428.

Columbus is a distant fourth at 442.

Fagg used a pair of 37s for a 2-over-par 74 and a 3-shot advantage on Skyler Martin of Shelby and Emma Woods of Fairfield.

Santistevan, 48-40—88 is eighth and Stodghill, 46-46—92 ninth.

Also scoring for Bigfork were Hattie Emslie, 62-58—120, and Mackenzie Holton, 60-69—128.

Loyola had one other player crack the top 10 with Isadora Tomazeli, 42-44—86, fifth.

Shelby also had Kendall Anderson, 45-42—87, in the top 10. She is tied for sixth.

Fagg finshed second at state last year.

The final 18 holes will be played today at Canyon River.

Bucky Crippen of Loyola, the defending state champion, shot a 7-under 65 and for an 8-shot edge on the field after opening day play at The Ranch Club.

He shot 34-31.

Cody Graveley of Townsend, 36-37—73, is second.

Loyola, with three golfers in the top 10, also has a commanding edge in the battle for team honors with a 308 score. Conrad, 347, is well back in second.

The boys finish up the tournament today at The Ranch.

Bigfork’s Brandon Hopkins shot 42-48—90 to finish seven shots out of the top 10.

Hopkins is Bigfork’ lone entrant. The Vikings failed to qualify as a team last week at divisionals.
