AUSTIN, Texas —Colorado junior Makena Morley (Bigfork) had the sixth fastest time in the 5,000-meter run final on Saturday evening at the NCAA Division I outdoor track and field championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Morley finished in 16 minutes, 2.89 seconds.

Dani Jones of Colorado clocked 15:50.65 to place first.

Five girls broke the 16-minute barrier. There were 24 runners in the final, two did not finish.

Morley’s effort earns her first-team all-American honors.

On Thursday, she was 11th for the second-year in a row in the 10,000-meter run. Her time: 33:39.27

Weini Kelati of New Mexico finished first (33.10.84)

Morley collected second-team all-American honors for that performance.
