• Vivian Akey of Whitefish recently completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Montana. She earned several awards, including Outstanding Student in Advanced Pharmacy Practice, Experience for Community Pharmacy Award and the Skaggs School of Pharmacy Faculty Award. Akey is a 2000 Whitefish High School graduate and is employed at Walgreens in Whitefish.

Flathead Valley Community College will honor its current class of eight physical therapist assistant graduates during a pinning ceremony at noon Friday, July 19, in the large community room of the Arts and Technology Building. A reception will follow the ceremony.

• Wheaton College student Sophia George of Kalispell was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester.

• Jack Desmul, a junior at Luther College from Kalispell, has been named to the 2019 spring semester dean’s List.

• Lucy Smith of Kalispell, is one of more than 6,700 riders, including three riders from Montana, who will pedal from 25 to 192 miles in the Pan-Mass Challenge with the goal of raising $60 million for cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
