Virginia Louise Mitchell, 74

Virginia Louise Mitchell, 74, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center, with her family by her side.

Virginia was born on Dec. 3, 1944, to Delbert and Mary (Fox) Stubbert in Kalispell. She was raised and attended School in Galata, Montana. After graduating from high school, she went on to get a bachelor’s degree in teaching from Western Montana College in Dillon in 1965.

Virginia married Lonnie Mitchell in 1967 and they celebrated 52 wonderful and adventurous years together. After graduating from college, she went on to teach at Hodges Elementary School and Batavia School in Kalispell. She then went on to cook at the Lutheran Home in Kalispell. In 1989 they moved to Wrangell, Alaska, where she retired from teaching. Throughout her life she loved reading, canning and spending time with family.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Melvin Stubbert.

She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Mitchell, of Kalispell; and children, Travis and wife Karda Mitchell, and Troy Mitchell, all of Kalispell; grandchildren, Briana Daniels, Kyleigh Mitchell, Hunter Mitchell and Caleb Mitchell; brothers, Carl Stubbert and Edwin Stubbert, and sister Lillian Ness; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Point Pleasant Campgrounds in the Swan. After the ceremony a reception will be held at 2687 Lower Valley Road in Kalispell.
