The Alpine Theatre Project Kids (ATP Kids), the educational outreach program offered by the Alpine Theatre Project, is holding auditions for its Spring session, culminating in a production of the macabre comedy musical, “The Addams Family.” Auditions for “The Addams Family” will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 4:30 p.m at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center, 127 Spokane Avenue in Whitefish. The session is open to all Valley students in Grades 7-12.

Students will be given material at the audition to sing. Classes and rehearsals will take place starting March 12 in Whitefish. Students will work with ATP Artistic Staff 5 days a week from 4-6 p.m.

Performances will take place at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center on April 27-29.

The weird and wonderful family comes to devilishly delightful life in “The Addams Family.” This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, & Drama Desk Award winner Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party).

“The Addams Family” features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Taught by theatre professionals, including Broadway veterans, ATP Kids is a fun and exciting way for local students to gain confidence, creativity, self-discipline, and camaraderie with other students from around the Valley all while learning how to perform on stage. Over the course of 6 weeks, students work on a full musical production. A $120 tuition fee is charged to help cover the cost of the program - but no student is ever turned away. Thanks to the generosity of ATP’s donors and sponsors, scholarships are available for families who require assistance. Since 2008, AKTP has enriched the lives of over 1,300 local students.
