Love shoots 69 to win at West Glacier course

Columbia Falls golfer Gabe Love shot an even par 69 to win the Columbia Falls Invitational at the West Glacier Golf Course on Sept. 17. It was Love’s best score of the season.

The tournament pitted Columbia Falls golfers against junior varsity teams from Glacier and Flathead high schools. Henry Chisholm took second at 79. The Columbia Falls boys won the tournament with a 314 overall score.

Ashley Trueblood had the best Columbia Falls girls score at 98. Gabbi Mammana of Glacier’s JV won by a stroke at 97. The girls didn’t keep team scores.

One day earlier, Love shot a 91 and Chisholm hit a 94 to take sixth and seventh places respectively at the Columbia Falls Invitational at the Meadow Lake Resort golf course on Sept. 16.

Bryce Callender shot a 99, and L.J. Panasuk shot a 107, good enough for ninth and 10th. Mitch Young of Whitefish won the boys tournament with a 79 and a hole-in-one on the par-three second hole.

For the girls, Shaelyn Lefebvre shot a 116 to take 10th for the Wildkats. Coral Schulz of Whitefish hit an 82 to win.

Whitefish won both team titles. Frenchtown also competed but didn’t have a team score for the boys. The Wildcats shot 391 as a team. The girls scored 494.

Columbia Falls will host the Northwest Class A divisional tournament on Thursday at Meadow Lake Resort. Tee times start at 10 a.m.
