Bigfork opens with win at divisional tournament

 HAMILTON — The Bigfork boys on Thursday advanced to the Western B divisional championship game with a 70-41 dismantling of Missoula Loyola in the semifinals of the divisional tournament. 

The top-ranked Vikings held Loyola without a field goal in the first quarter to take a 15-2 lead after the first eight minutes. Bigfork led 32-11 at half and by 31 points before putting in the bench with five minutes to play.

Josh Sandry had 15 points and Christian Evans 12 to lead Bigfork. All 11 Vikings players scored in the game. 

Bigfork will play Florence in tonight’s championship game at 9:15 p.m.

HAMILTON — The Bigfork boys basketball team remained unbeaten as they defeated Mission 71-46 in the first round of the Western B divisional tournament on Wednesday night at Hamilton High School.

Paced by senior Christian Evans’ double-double, which included a game-high 26 points, the Vikings (19-0) outscored the Bulldogs 23-4 in the first quarter en route to a 41-19 halftime lead.

Isaac Martel added 10 points for Bigfork, and Mission’s Stuart Grant, the third player in double figure for the game scored 21 points to lead the Bulldogs.

 Bigfork’s blow out the Bulldogs advances them to the semifinals where they’ll play Loyola at 9:15 tonight.
