WEB UPDATE: Fire burning above Woods Bay

A Sunday afternoon lightning strike ignited a fire above Woods Bay, just south of Bigfork, according to Forest Service spokesperson Teresa Wenum.

The fire — dubbed the Old Airstrip Fire — had burned about six acres as of 9 a.m. Monday.

Wenum said multiple crews and helicopters would be on the blaze Monday, adding that cooler temperatures would aid firefighters.
