Pitching powers Lakers sweep of Med Hat

Sam Elliott tossed a 1-hitter and Drew Scherrer allowed four hits as the Kalispell Lakers AA swept an American Legion baseball doubleheader from Medicine Hat AA on Saturday evening at Griffin Field.

Elliott pitched the second game, striking out seven in seven innings and not walking a batter in an 8-0 victory.

Scherrer also went the distance, did not walk a batter and struck out four in a 3-2 victory in the opener.

Kalispell had five hits in the first game with Taylor Morton going 2 for 4. Morton and Eric Seaman both had RBIs.

Randy Stultz singled, walked twice and scored twice.

The Lakers scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to tie it and one in the bottom of the seventh to win it.

Ryan Symmes went 3 for 3 for Kalispell in the nightcap and scored three times. He tripled and drove in a run.

Jonathan Craver doubled and drove in two runs for Kalispell. Eric Seaman also had two RBIs.

Stultz had the team’s other double.

Kalispell scored a run in every inning but the second.

The Lakers AA (19-6 overall, 4-0 league) have a conference doubleheader on Thursday at Bozeman and have won 10 straight.
