SKIING: Kneeland, Elliott, Reed sweep podium twice at Great Divide

MARYSVILLE — Brodie Kneeland, Ryder Elliott and Townsend Reed led 13 podium finishers from the Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation ski racing team during last weekends’ competitions.

The three U12 boys, competing at Great Divide Ski Area northwest of Helena, swept the podium in both the Saturday and Sunday slalom races. Kneeland finished first, Elliott was the runner-up and Reed took third in both races.

Mikaela Daniels, Colin Harper and Tyler Anderson paced the older skiers from the FVSEF, all of whom were competing at Bridger Bowl outside Bozeman.

Daniels won the U16 girls giant slalom race on Friday night, took second in Saturday’s slalom race and picked up another victory in the Sunday slalom race.

Harper bested the field in two U16 boys races, while Anderson finished second three times in the same division.

Ian Calaway (U16 boys), Burke Fox (U14 boys) and Corina Kneeland (U8 girls) picked up a win apiece over the weekend.

The competitions in Marysville and Bozeman marked the end of the regular season for all FVSEF teams.

Postseason action begins with the Northern Division YSL Championships for the U8-U14 teams on March 9-11 at Bridger Bowl.
