• Winter in the Flathead Valley would be incomplete without partaking in one of the many festive Whitefish WInter Carnival events. To kick things off is the Merry Maker, beginning at 6 p.m. Jan. 6. This racy roast of Whitefish icons and national faces is full of laughs, but most definitely kid-free.

• Local legend John Dunnigan will take the stage at the Great Northern Bar in Whitefish at 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 4. Dunnigan is a great live act with a sense of humor and raw talent.

• Great Northern Brewing Company is celebrating the release of their Ski Socks Sour with on-site ski waxing, cheese plates and $3 pints Jan. 4. Things kick off at 5 p.m. at the brewery’s Draught House.

• Get ready to dance to the “power pop party rock” stylings of THE MAX. The three-piece band hails from Livingston and consistently delivers a great,energetic show. They perform at 9:30 p.m. at the Great Northern Bar.
