A Kalispell man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly stabbed another man in the chest.

Blake Samuel Young, 18, was taken into custody and charged with assault with a weapon.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a stabbing at 9:15 p.m. on March 5 in Evergreen. Officers reportedly found the victim, a 22-year-old man, lying on the side of the 1400 block of Montana 35 with a stab wound to the left side of his chest.

Young allegedly ran from the scene to a nearby convenience store. Deputies located Young and took him into custody without incident, according to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry.

Young appeared to have been assaulted as well. After being medically cleared, he was reportedly transported to the Flathead County Detention Center.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery, according to the press release. He is listed to be in stable condition.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident. The involved persons have either been uncooperative or provided little or inconsistent information, according to the sheriff. More information will be released when it becomes available.
